What form of government does NMC operate under?
North Metro Church has adopted the principle of a plurality of leadership, rather than a single pastoral model. Our leadership team, consisting of the Council of Elders, the Board of Directors, and the church staff, work together to lead the church in pursuit of our purpose and ministry objectives. These three groups work together as follows:

The church staff directs the ministries and day-to-day activities of the church with overall leadership provided by the Management Team. The church ministries are supported by the policies and allocation of financial resources determined by the Board of Directors. All the activities of the church are carried out under the protection of the Council of Elders.

Beliefs

What does NMC believe about the Bible?
The Bible is God’s Word to us. It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian faith and living. It is the final authority on all matters on which it bears. Because it is inspired by God, the Bible is the truth without any mixture of error. (II Timothy 3:16; II Peter 2:1, 20, 21; II Timothy 1:13; Psalm 119:105)

What does NMC believe about God?
God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. There is one true Holy God, eternally existing in three persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and equally possess all the attributes of deity and characteristics of personality. In the beginning, God created out of nothing the world and all the things therein. (Genesis 1:1, 26, 27, 3:22; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; I Peter 1:2; II Corinthians 13:14)

What does NMC believe about Jesus Christ?
Jesus Christ is God’s eternal Son. He is co-equal with the Father. As true God and true man, He allowed Himself to be born of a virgin, lived a sinless human life, and voluntarily offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for our sins by dying on a cross as our substitute. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven and will return again some day to earth to reign as King of kings, and Lord of lords. (Matthew 1:22-23; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-5, 14:10-30; Hebrews 4:14-15; I Corinthians 15:3-4; Romans 1:3-4; Acts 1:9-11; I Timothy 6:14-15; Titus 2:13)

What does NMC believe about the Holy Spirit?
The Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and the Son of God. He is present in the world to make men and women aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of Scriptural truth, and guidance in doing what is right. At the point of salvation, He uniquely gives to every Christian a spiritual gift that is to be used for the building up of the Body of Christ – the Church. As Christians, we seek to live under His control daily, to exhibit Christ-like character, and to bear fruit to the glory of the Father. (II Corinthians 3:17; Jon 16:17; John 16:7-13, 14:16-17; Acts 1:8; I Corinthians 2:12, 3:16; Ephesians 1:13, 5:17-21; Galatians 5:25)

What does NMC believe about Mankind?
Human Beings were created in God’s image but rebelled against God through disobedience. This rebellion resulted in all human beings being marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called “sin.” This attitude separates all people from God and renders them incapable of pleasing God on their own merit or saving themselves. (Genesis 1:27; Psalm 8:3-6; Isaiah 53:6; Romans 3:23; Isaiah 59:1-2)

What does NMC believe about Salvation?
Salvation is God’s free gift to us. We can never make up for our sins by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can anyone be saved from sin’s penalty. When we turn from our self-ruled life to Jesus Christ in faith, trusting in Him alone for forgiveness of our sins, we are saved. Eternal life begins the moment one transfers their trust from themselves to Christ for forgiveness of their sins. Salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God, and when God has begun a saving work in the heart of any person, He promises to continue performing it until the day of its full consummation. We are involved in this process by choosing to follow Christ, trust Him, and obey Him. (Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9; John 14:6, 1:12; Titus 3:5; Galatians 3:26; Romans 5:1-8; Philippians 1:6, 2:12-13; John 10:29-30; II Timothy 1:12; Hebrews 7:25; I Peter 1:3-5)

What does NMC believe about Eternity?
Eternity - People were created to exist forever. Death seals the eternal destiny of each person. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. (John 3:16, 2:25, 5:11-13; Romans 6:23; Revelation 20:15; Hebrews 9:27; Matthew 18:8, 25:44-46)

What does NMC believe about the Church?
The Church is the living body of Christ on earth and at the point of salvation a person becomes a member of Christ’s body – the Church. Christ is the head of the Church and the source of its life. The Body is comprised of those who acknowledge Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. The Church exists to display a passion for Jesus Christ, to demonstrate a compassion for people, to develop fully-devoted followers of Jesus Christ, and to declare God’s love to people who do not yet know Jesus Christ. (Colossians 1:18; Ephesians 2:19-22, 5:23-24; Acts 2:41-47; Matthew 16:15-18; Colossians 3:21; Revelation 4:11; Ephesians 4:11-13; Matthew 22:36-40, 28:19-20; Romans 12:3-16; I Corinthians 12:4-12; Acts 1:8)

Early Childhood Ministry

How many rooms?
We have a total of 18 rooms for infants through pre-kindergarten. Classrooms open 15 minutes prior to the beginning of each sevice.

How many volunteers help out each week?
Each Sunday, there are over 125 volunteers in the preschool ministry. In total we have approximately 250 volunteers serving on a rotation of either every other week or every week.

How do I register my child?
If you are a guest, go to one of the registration stations located in the lobby of North Metro. There will be a trained volunteer there to assist you. They will help you determine your child’s appropriate class, give you a temporary security number, and a name tag for your child.

What is the security policy for picking up my child?
All parents will be given a claim tag when you drop your child off in one of our KCRG ministry classrooms. You MUST show your claim tag before entering the KCRG hallways and removing a child from the room.

What if my child gets sick during the service?
On each claim tag there is a number that corresponds with the claim tag on your child. If we notice a sick child in a room or if a child gets sick while in the preschool ministry, we will call the parent by flashing their number on our in-service paging system.

KCRG: Kindergarten - 5th Grade

What is KCRG and what does it stand for?
KCRG is a fictitious radio station in southern California. Kids are the studio audience and are introduced to life lessons through the radio station employees. Our KCRG radio personalities are committed volunteers to our ministry. Each member of the team is dedicated to bringing relevance to the way we present our Sunday lessons.

By participating in KCRG, we trust that our kids will:
Know God. Choose Well. Reach Out. Go Tell.

Sublime - Middle & High School Students

What is the mission of the Student Ministry at North Metro Church?
Our mission is to lead students into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.

What does a night at Sublime look like?
Sublime is a weekly program on Sunday nights from 7:00-9:00 PM designed for students in Middle School and High School. We believe that God has sublimed our students. He has made them with high worth. As their relationship with Jesus Christ deepens, they can realize their true value to God. We take the opportunity on Wednesday nights to provide students with spiritual truth meant to encourage and motivate them in their walks with Christ.

Every week at Sublime we offer a variety of creative elements from funny skits and outrageous characters to thought-provoking videos and student testimonies. We also place a strong emphasis on relevant worship and teaching.

We believe that life-change happens best when students are doing life deeply with each other and a trusted adult. For this reason, each week at the end of Sublime, students spend time in grade/gender-appropriate small groups. Our small groups revolve around four key elements: accountability, prayer, scripture application, and relationships. All of these are designed to help our students grow deeper in their walk with the Lord.

Echo

Outreach

What is North Metro Church’s Global Outreach purpose and focus?
The purpose of the Global Outreach Ministry is to engage believers in opportunities that expand God's glory into all the nations by...

Discipling the people of NMC in God's Biblical purpose for the nations;

Developing Global Partnerships with cross-cultural church development and planting movements;

Deploying strategic resources – human and financial – for the support of God's global cause.

The Great Commission passage found in Matthew 28 defines both the goal and scope of World Evangelization. The goal is to make disciples and the scope is of all nations. In Acts 1:8 the scope is divided into four areas which are to be approached in parallel, rather than sequentially – Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and the Ends of the Earth.

DEFINITION OF TARGETED AREAS OF INFLUENCE:
Jerusalem: ministry opportunities to believers and unbelievers within the church which are within the normal personal influence of the people of NMC and other growing churches. e.g. ministry within Community Groups, Worship Services.

Judea: ministry opportunities to unbelievers outside the church who are within the normal personal influence of the people of North Metro Church and other growing churches. e.g. ministry to co-workers, neighbors, those who are unchurched, and seekers.

Samaria: cross-cultural ministry opportunities which are beyond the normal personal influence of the people of NMC or other growing evangelical churches, although not geographically difficult to reach. e.g. Persian Church in Atlanta, intercity ministry

Ends of the Earth: cross-cultural ministry opportunities which are beyond the normal personal influence of the people of NMC or other growing churches, and are geographically difficult to reach. e.g. ministries in Russia, ministries in North Africa.

The role of the Global Outreach Ministry is to focus on Making a Difference in our Samaria and the Ends of the Earth.

How is the Global Outreach Ministry funded?
The Global Outreach Fund is provided for by a combination model which creates opportunities for the church body, personally and corporately, to be involved in Global Outreach through giving.

This combination funding model consists of a percentage (currently 10%) of NMC's annual operating receipts being designated to the Global Outreach Fund (corporate involvement) and by providing opportunities for individuals (personal involvement) in the NMC body to give directly to the Global Outreach Fund.

The Global Outreach Fund is used to build partnerships between NMC to its "Samaria" and its "Ends of the Earth” (see definitions above) and is limited to those arenas. The Global Outreach Fund is to be used only for World Evangelization.

North Metro Church’s operating budget provides Global Outreach education, promotion, development, administrative, and staffing costs within NMC's programs (ministry to our own body) and programs used to develop the NMC body.

What is a Short-term Mission trip?
A short-term mission trip is an opportunity for the NMC family to be involved in making a difference in the world by serving in an international capacity. The ministry focus of these trips varies from discipleship, evangelism, construction, and prayer teams. Usually, these trips last between 7 and 14 days.

The Global Outreach Team considers short-term mission trips as a key discipleship tool to be used in the life of a believer. Therefore, trips and training are designed to disciple participants into becoming more devoted Christ followers. A short-term mission trip is NOT a retreat or camp where you pay your money and then go. Being a team member is a privilege and, like Paul and Peter in the book of Acts, is recognized and earns the right to be a part. To be considered for a trip, one must complete an application.

How can I apply to go on a Short-term Mission Trip?
If you are interested in going on a short-term mission trip, pick up an informational brochure and an application at the Information Counter on Sunday mornings or call the North Metro Church office and these items can be sent to you. Then, complete the application and turn it into the office by the deadline indicated for the project for which you are applying.

What is North Metro’s Local Outreach purpose and focus?
The purpose of the Local Outreach Ministry is to equip the NMC body to effectively share their faith in a manner that produces life change in those they are influencing; to provide the NMC body with opportunities to introduce people within their realm of influence to our church, other Christians, and Christ; and to provide the people of NMC with opportunities to influence the Marietta/Atlanta community outside their normal realm of influence.

The role of the Local Outreach Ministry is to focus on Making a Difference in our “Jerusalem” and “Judea” (see definitions above).

How does North Metro Church do Local Outreach?
North Metro believes the best way to reach our community is to equip the NMC family to actively and purposefully pursue relationships within their natural realm of influence (co-workers, neighbors). Better than any program is a person who cares to change someone’s world by introducing them to Christ. Classes are provided throughout the year for the North Metro members to learn how to naturally and contagiously share their faith.

Additionally, several times a year North Metro conducts First Touch Events. These are creative, non-threatening events that allow the NMC family to bring their friends and family that are investigating Christianity to interact with the North Metro Family. Also, the Community Groups, Student Ministry, Children’s Ministry, and Men’s and Women’s ministry implement activities to draw people in their specific target areas to Christ.
