Operation Christmas Child 2008 Collection
Thank you to the North Metro family for your participation in this year's Shoebox Collection. Over 350 shoeboxes were filled and delivered to the Atlanta Processing Center. In addition, the Women's Ministry collected and delivered laundry baskets overflowing with school supplies, personal hygiene items, and hard candy. In 2008, Samaritan's Purse delivered 8 million shoeboxes to children around the world.

Shoebox Collection Information
Shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child (Samaritan's Purse) will be collected the weeks of November 2, 9, and 16. Brochures will be available at the kiosk in the main lobby and at the collection tables beginning Sunday, October 26 with the list of acceptable items to include. Consider filling one or more shoeboxes for children who have suffered because of war, natural disaster, poverty, illness, or neglect in countries all over the world. This is a great way to involve your children in giving to other children throughout the world. Please contact Nancy at nsperry@northmetro.org or by calling 678-290-7830 x134 for further information.
The Women's Ministry is collecting items for the shoeboxes each month. These items will be taken to the Distribution Center to be added to shoeboxes which need these items. You can bring your donations on Wednesday mornings during Bible Study or call Cheryl Wahlmeier at 770-974-9740 or by email at wahlmeierb@bellsouth.net.
The items to be collected are as follows:
- September - school supplies (crayons, coloring books, pencils, paper)
- October - toothpaste, toothbrushes, washclothes, and bars of soap (please place soap in small Ziploc bags)
- November - any type of hard candy (Smarties, LifeSavers, Tootsie Rolls, lollipops, gum, jawbreakers) (nothing that can melt)
Also, check back soon for additional details as the Women's Ministry will be serving at the Distribution Center on December 5 and 10.
