AS OF JULY 5, 2010:

Paul Alexander and his family have arrived and are settling into life at North Metro!  Please join us for worship on Sunday mornings at 9:30 AM and 11:30 AM to get to know Paul as he teaches from God's Word in the coming weeks.

AS OF MAY 2, 2010:

God has answered months of prayer as we have diligently sought His man to lead North Metro Church!  The Elders are thrilled to announce that Paul Alexander has accepted our call to serve and will be joining us later this summer.  Paul comes to us from Cornerstone Church in Chandler, Arizona where he served as Executive Pastor for the past three years.  To get a closer look at Paul and his family, his teaching, and his passion, visit cschandler.com, paulalexanderblog.com, and gatorcrew.blogspot.com. Paul will send us a video greeting on Sunday, May 16, so don't miss worshipping with us!  Join us in continuing to pray for Paul, his wife Lisa, and their children Kennedy, Mia, and Lincoln, as they make the transition to North Metro.  PRAISE GOD!

AS OF FEBRUARY 17, 2010:

The Search Team is interacting with 9 lead pastor candidates who are in various stages of our evaluation process.  We are actively reviewing and interviewing these individuals as we seek to identify key candidates and further explore their gifting in light of our criteria.  We continue to pursue leads that come in from the search firm and others, as well.  If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to contact any of our leaders individually, or e-mail elders@northmetro.org.

AS OF JANUARY 19, 2010:

The current field has been narrowed to several key candidates, some of whom have been here for visits and meetings with the Elders, Board of Directors, and staff.  At least one candidate has made multiple trips to NMC for further conversation.  Leads continue to come in and are being actively pursued, and we have been in communication with a search firm to help generate leads to put into the process, should that need arise.  Please join us in praying and seeking God daily for His wisdom and direction in finding the next leader for North Metro.

AS OF DECEMBER 15, 2009:

To date, we have interviewed several candidates and are moving forward in our process with some of these individuals.  We recently hosted an initial visit to NMC with one of them, and anticipate hosting another candidate in early January as this phase of the search process unfolds.  Please join us in praying daily about God's desire for His church as it is expressed through this place we call North Metro Church.  If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to contact any of our leaders individually, or e-mail elders@northmetro.org.

AS OF NOVEMBER 2, 2009:

Facilitation of the North Metro Church Lead Pastor Search Team has transitioned to Greg Williams in the wake of former facilitator Ed Cain's recent relocation to Birmingham.  As Greg takes the team forward, we commend Ed for his tireless work on behalf of the Lead Pastor search.  Please continue to pray for direction and discernment as this journey with God unfolds.

AS OF OCTOBER 18, 2009:

The Search Team continues to meet and pray regularly regarding our next Lead Pastor.  It is our desire to keep you informed and aware of the steps that are being taken.  To date, we have determined the character and criterion in the Lead Pastor we are seeking, developed a clear process for candidates, and launched a website (www.nmcpastorsearch.com) where those interested in the position can submit their resume and where our church body can submit names of candidates they recommend.   We have also sought the Lord and reviewed over 30 potential candidates to determine if any of these men warrant further evaluation.  Please join us in praying daily about God's desire for His church as it is expressed through this place we call North Metro Church.  If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to contact any of our leaders individually or e-mail elders@northmetro.org and we will ensure that you receive a response.

AS OF AUGUST 30, 2009:

As shared by Matt Abercrombie in the worship services on Sunday, August 30, the Elders continue to refine NMC's vision for our next season of ministry.  The staff team is charging ahead in leading the church ministries and taking new ground, as illustrated by the growth of ECHO and its move to the Auditorium for their weekly campus ministry gathering.  In the meantime, the Lead Pastor Search Team has begun to identify potential candidates and we continue to trust God to reveal His plan.  Although we cannot foresee how long this search may take, we ask that you join us in praying for God's direction throughout this ongoing process.

Mark your calendar:  Thursday, September 3 has been set aside as a day of focused prayer, fasting, and communion for the North Metro Church family as we continue to seek God's provision and guidance in our search for a Lead Pastor.  Please join us at any time from 9:00 AM - 7:00 PM in the Theater.

AS OF JULY 12, 2009:

The Elders have met to pray and ask God's direction for the future several times in the weeks since Mark Henry's decision to leave North Metro.  God has given us a strong leadership team with the Elders, Board of Directors, and Staff, and all are committed to moving forward toward the vision He has given us.  We have reached consensus on the following interim leadership plan:

  • Our teaching team of Craig Bowler, Rob McDowell, Larry Ragan, and Brent Shoemaker will share responsibility for teaching each Sunday.
  •  Larry Ragan will serve as Interim Staff Leader, overseeing the day-to-day work of the staff.
  • Craig Bowler will provide leadership to the staff as they prepare ministry plans and budgets based on a five-year strategic vision developed over the last eight months by our leadership teams.  You will hear more about this in September.
  • We have asked John McGriff to join our ministry staff in an interim leadership role to help ensure progress on important projects and initiatives.

The Board of Directors Personnel Team is facilitating the search process for a new Lead Pastor, and will keep you informed on Sunday mornings and on our website as that process unfolds.  Although we don't know how long this process will take, our desire throughout will be to seek God's will and direction, moving forward as He leads.

We have assembled a diverse Search Team that will source and qualify potential Lead Pastor candidates.  The Elders and Board of Directors will build on their work to vet candidates, with the Elders interviewing finalists and making a final decision.  We welcome suggestions of potential candidates.  We are not prejudging any candidates.  If you know of someone who might be a good candidate, please contact us at elders@northmetro.org.

North Metro’s three leadership teams (Elders, Board of Directors, and Staff) are seeking God’s will and direction in light of Mark Henry’s departure to a new ministry opportunity in Arkansas.
