The storm you can't outrun
Jonah 1:4-16 (ESV)
Our disobedience doesn't affect only us; God can use disruption as an act of severe mercy.
This passage is full of contrasts worth sitting in: Jonah asleep while everyone else is desperate. Pagan sailors praying while the prophet stays silent. A man who claims to fear the God who made the sea, trying to escape that same God on the sea. And while Jonah hardens, the sailors soften, moving from fearing the storm to fearing and worshiping the Lord.
