We are excited that you are interested in baptism. At North Metro Church we believe that baptism is an important step of obedience for every Christ follower. We also know that people often have questions regarding baptism. Why should I be baptized? If I have already been baptized, do I have to do it again? Does it matter if you are sprinkled or immersed?

Our intention with this web page is NOT to answer every one of those questions – that’s why we have our Baptism Class. But here are some brief answers to a couple of the questions articulated above.

Who Should Be Baptized?
The short answer to this question is “All Christ-followers should be baptized.” But what does it mean to be a follower of Christ? The answer to that question according to the Bible is those who believe that forgiveness of their sins by God is possible only through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ [ read more ].

For it is by grace you have been saved through faith – and this not from yourselves.
It is the gift of God - not by works so that no one can boast.

Ephesians 2:8-9

At North Metro, we practice believers’ baptism. This means that only those who hear the good news of Jesus Christ’s sacrificial death for humankind, understand and respond to it through faith can be baptized.

What Does Baptism Accomplish?
Baptism allows a Christ-follower to communicate to the world his or her heart-felt commitment to Christ, as well as the following truths:
    • It proclaims Christ’s death and resurrection (1 Cor. 15:1-4)
    • It serves public notice to the world of one’s new life in Christ (Matt. 10:32)
    • It pictures a believer’s death to sin and his or her resurrection to a spiritual life and lifestyle through the power of the Holy Spirit (Rom. 6:3-7)
To learn more about why we have chosen immersion as our method of baptizing or what we believe about infant baptism and being re-baptized, please attend our Baptism Class.

The Baptism Process
North Metro Church has baptism services on Sunday mornings every few months. These services are an incredible opportunity to experience together a celebration of the power and love of God in His work of moving people from spiritual death to spiritual life.

The next Baptism Service at North Metro is May 17, 2009.
If you would like to be baptized in one of our two services on May 17, please follow these steps:

    • Register for and attend one of our baptism classes (Date: March 29th).  The adult baptism class will meet at 9:30 in room 203.   Middle & high school student baptism class will meet at 11:30 in the common room (located upstairs just before the cafe entrance).   For children through fifth grade the baptism class will meet at 11:30 in room 205/206.  One parent must also attend with your child.   Please register at least one week in advance for these classes on the NMC Registrations page.

    • Read about making your video. At North Metro, we ask every baptism candidate to allow us to capture their spiritual journey on video.  Of course, you can be baptized without this step, but we believe that sharing your story in this way will be a powerful testimony to others of God's grace in your life.

    • When you attend one of the Baptism Classes, please sign-up for a time slot to film your testimony. The dates for filming testimonies will be March 31 and April 1.
